چکیده

Surface roughness and discoloration of thermally modified Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.), Kazdağı fir (Abies equi-trojani Asch. et Sint.), Eastern beech (Fagus orientalis Lipsky) were evaluated. The surface the samples sanded with 60, 80, 120-grit grades evaluated at temperature levels 160, 180, 200, 220 °C. Findings subjected to multiple analysis variance Duncan’s homogeneity tests; using SPSS package program, single, double, triple, quadruple interactions analyzed. highest values found in radial cross-section (12.4 µm) finished 60-grit sandpaper. lowest value was Kazdagi that heat-treated 200 °C processed sandpaper (2.03 µm). evaluation (∆E) eastern 32.43, ∆E 46.86 pine.

Effects of Thermomechanical Densification and Heat Treatment on Density and Brinell Hardness of Scots Pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) and Eastern Beech (Fagus orientalis L.)

The effects of thermomechanical densification (TMD) and heat treatment on density and Brinell hardness of Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) and Eastern beech (Fagus orientalis L.) woods were investigated. Samples were densified using a specially designed hydraulic press with target compression ratios of 20 and 40%, and at 110 °C and 150 °C. Then, the heat treatment was applied to the samples at ...

Comparison of tree stem diameter variations in beech (Fagus sylvatica L.) in Sorø Denmark and in Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) in Hyytiälä, Finland

Tree stem diameter variations were measured simultaneously in beech (Fagus sylvatica L.) in Sorø, Denmark and in Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) in Hyytiälä, Finland. The variations were detected at two heights on the xylem and the whole stem on both trees. The evapo-transpiration of the forests was measured by eddy-covariance method. The pattern of evapo-transpiration was refl ected on the di...

NATURAL WEATHERING OF SCOTS PINE (Pinus sylvestris L.) BOARDS MODIFIED WITH FUNCTIONALISED COMMERCIAL SILICONE EMULSIONS

A quat-silicone micro-emulsion (particle size <40 nm), an amino-silicone macro-emulsion (110 nm), and an alkyl modified silicone macro-emulsion (740 nm) were used to modify Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) sapwood. Treated and uncoated boards were exposed to natural weathering for one year along with water treated controls according to EN 927-3. The treatment with silicone emulsions did not enh...

Characterization of a Lhcb5 cDNA from Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris).

Despite extensive studies on the LHC proteins of PSI and PSII (for review, see Jansson, 1994), the detailed polypeptide composition of LHC I and LHC I1 has not been understood until recently. The nature of the Lhcb5 gene product has been one of the major uncertainties, since it has been identified both as the CP26 (or the equivalent complex LHCIIc) polypeptide and one of two CP29 polypeptides (...

The Efficiency of Mechanization in Weed Control in Artificial Regeneration of Oriental Beech (Fagus orientalis Lipsky.)

In this study which has been conducted in Akçasu Forest Range District of Devrek Forest Directorate; 3 methods (weed control with labourer power, cover removal with Hitachi F20 Excavator, and weed control with agricultural equipment mounted on a Ferguson 240S agriculture tractor) were utilized in weed control efforts in regeneration of degraded oriental beech forests have been compared. In this...
